Visitors to my tavern that aren't on my fronds list. How?

I did search for the answer. I found conflicting information. Please help me understand how I cannot visit anyone's tavern but my friends, but every once in a blue moon someone not on my friends list is sitting in my tavern? Thanks so much!

Only players on your friends list can sit in your Tavern. It is possible that someone unfriended you, or you unfriended that person, while they were still in your Tavern.

Yep. I’ve seen where the ‘normal’ protocol is sending out a last pollivate and then directly after unfriending. It’s to get those last possible points/coins/silver.
