It was a brand-new mechanic for this game, and I will say I wasn't entirely sure how it worked after reading the announcement, but it became rather self-evident very quickly after I started it.



I disagree. RNG should be a factor. Choosing the right strategy should be a factor. This is a game, not a paint-by-numbers. Even the simplest of games have factors of RNG and/or strategy; you're either rolling dice or depending on the dealer giving you the cards you need, or you're having to adapt your plan according to what your opponent does. In no true game do you simply follow the same A to B to C every time and win the big prize.

I completely disagree on your point on the rng aspect when considering the nature of these events. Take an mmo. You have a quest line you follow that has a clear reward and clear requirements. There is no rng there, and that’s how, imo, a long event quest line like we get in FoE should work. You follow the requirements, you get the reward. Now, Inno has rightly moved away from rng being involved with getting the main event prize. If you do the research, follow a good strategy, and play when you need to you are guaranteed the prize.
As for the research aspect, like I said I don’t know how I feel about it. In St. Patrick’s you could hose yourself for the entire event if you made a couple wrong choices in the beginning. I personally research every event, and I’ve never failed to get a grand prize, ever. I just see my guildies time and again fail to get a grand prize. I’m personally fine with the events, even this hated st. Patrick’s day one.
