[Question] Why do some of my defending units have a negative attack bonus?

I've been getting plundered a lot recently. When I examined some of the replays I found that some of my defending units have a negative attack bonus added after the baseline bonus. This only shows up in the replay, not in my army management screen.

Some units have -40%, others -20%, others nothing.

Where does this come from? Is there a way to avoid it?
