    Ummm. Troops have guns starting in Colonial Age.

    The Colonial Ages allow you to get muskets for your troops, and for the future eras, Im not exactly sure yet, im still early in the game, but I would say Arctic/Oceanic future, whatever comes first.

    Colonial Age Grenadiers obviously have grenades. Industrial Age has Riflemen and Howitzers and the Jaeger Infantry is shown with a rifle. After that pretty much all units attack from range until you get to Future Era and beyond, when the occasional unit shows up that has a range of one.
