Inno did checkmate screw up so lesson learned - Do not trust BETA server info... wait, BETA server info was valuable help for events... hmmm????

, anyway - I took Carousells allready so Inno screwed some other players,

Note well, I do not agree that INNO pulled any kind of scam here.

I agree that Inno didn't scam and it's well within their rights to change between beta and live, but given the discussion going around, it's also safe to say they knew a reasonably large number of people were saving exclusively for the checkmate square.

While it is true that they have changed some daily specials between beta and live in the past, I think it's safe to say that this would be the first time such a popular building was swapped (I've read some things about sleigh builder but I wouldn't say it's on the same level as checkmate square though).

I guess what I'm trying to get at is that based on this feedback thread alone (which devs theoretically should be reading), it doesn't take much to figure that quite a few would miss out when they could have made it clear from the start that the checkmate square would not show up and save quite a bit of grief.

Soccer Cup event will have buildings with attack / defense boost for attacking army (main prize as well as daily specials), so there will be plenty of opportunities to spend diamonds.
Who will ever trust Inno again?

They may change those too, they can hide like cowards under the same "prizes from beta may be different from the real worlds".

The best way for them to feel how serious their mistake was with this event is to NOT pay them any money for diamonds.

I CALL ON EVERYONE TO STOP FEEDING THESE PEOPLE MONEY!

Your money is your money so do as you wish.

Of course they can change the grand prizes, but it's not like they won't announce that at the very least... I mean it's the grand prize, it's always announced. As for winner's plaza and its upgrade, given that the upgrade is new, it should be very safe to assume it will show up... otherwise, what's the point of making an upgrade if it's inaccessible?

As Mr. Bob said, these prices were part of the announcement for the soccer cup on beta, unlike the checkmate square. Let’s not start comparing apples with oranges. Nevertheless it can of course still be subject to change. :)

If by Grand Prize you're referring to the main buildings in a event then you wouldn't even need an announcement to know if changes occurred. You'd just need to look at the questline rewards for a upgrade or selection kit to know the stats of the completed building

Yeah I was just meant that there won't be any too big of surprises there

Deception is not a good business model. If Inno has any shred of integrity or at least recognizes the economic reality of this decision, they should refund diamond purchases of anyone who requests it.

That is very moral of you Sir.
As long as it's not me who get screwed over, it's all fine.
Such sportsmanship

Instead of buying Diamonds the day of the DS you want, you bought Diamonds in advance at a discount hoping you would get to spend them on something that you were not certain would occur. You were trying to get the best of things.

Looks like a case of gambling and losing.

Sure you thought you had insider information, despite INNO changing prizes from beta before.

Note well, I do not agree that INNO pulled any kind of scam here.

But if is noteworthy that a con man's wet dream to have a mark who is trying to get the best of things because the mark is convinced they have sure fire insider information despite evidence showing otherwise.
Admittedly, that's true. However, it's gambling at a rigged game. However, I accept your point and I've learned my lesson. I will never, EVER again pay Innogames a dime, and I've paid them quite a few dimes over the years. The house always wins. The house won, and I now know not to go back into the casino.

Now, here's the problem. Innogames is not a casino. It's an entertainment business. A more appropriate analogy would be a movie producer creating a movie where instead of a great climax, the screen just cuts to black and a picture of a middle finger overlaid with the words "[bleep] you viewers" pops up. Your point still holds; the people gambled on seeing a good movie when they bought the ticket. Maybe they thought they "had insider information" (i.e. read a review) so your point would continue to hold. OK, good on the production company. I'm sure the sadistic officers who run it are feeling real good about themselves right now laughing at all the poor rubes they duped. Here's the problem-now those rubes will never buy tickets to your movies in the future because they know you're going to screw them.

For me, the event is finally ended, I got LV 11 areship, LV10 World Fair, and bunches of SoKs, also an Art Exhibition LV1 by selling buidings to AD.
I think this event is very good for new player like me, but might not suitable to seasonal player by reading other comments.
Only negetive feeling is 20 days might be too long for an event, it would be better if it last for 2 weeks.

I finished the event in both of my cities and got the fully upgraded Airship in both with one extra upgrade. I couldn't get the last, Golden Clay Tablet, but since I don't care about portraits, all I missed were some tools, which didn't have any impact on me anyway.

I love the mechanic in this event and really hope this year's Halloween Event will be the same. I was slightly disappointed there were no Wishing Well and Sentinel Outpost daily specials, but I picked up some Globe Fountains and Tactician Towers/upgrades in my main world and a ton of WW Shrink Kits in my Diamond farm world.

To the players complaining that the CS didn't appear as a daily special when they saved their scrolls for it - it's your fault you were counting on something that was not guaranteed. You can pick them up from the AD anyway.

1. This event helped me a ton. I did NOT get a higher level world's fair, but the airship, carousels and rogue hideouts were a huge boost for my little town.

2. The minigame was okay - didnt have to use a lot of brain (unlike the St Patricks event where it was challenging).

3. The tablet quests were time consuming (8x8hour productions, etc), yet the rewards were crappy (wisteria topiary/5 scrolls..). If I had chance to play this event again, I would not do the tablet questline.

4. The drummer-boy "rewards" were more of a punishment for spending a brush or shovel. 11A/D is useless compared to my normal units (25+A/D.

No big complaints. Event was enjoyable and very forgiving (unlike the ruthlessly cruel spring event).

I'm seeing all the complaints about no CS, and I hear you... bad move INNO: piss off most of your customer base.
That being said, for newer players like myself, Attack event buildings are not as valuable as FP producing event buildings. I spent most of my scrolls getting SoK's. Yes, once my arc is at 80, CF at 60, attack GBs high enough, I will start replacing FP buildings with attack buildings, but by then, the CS will probably be outdated, and better buildings will be available. I can see how no CS sucks for established players, but for new ones, it's not a problem. I enjoyed the event a lot.

Why is checkmate square so valuable that not having it puts you off the game?
It's a very good attack building. Plus, I like to play chess so I think it looks really cool (though that's just a "me" thing).

What really ticks me off is not so much that it wasn't included (neither was its cultural building counterpart, the Botanical Rotunda and a whole huge list of other stuff). It's the bait-and-switch Inno pulled. I'm not off the game entirely like the person you responded to, but I am off paying off for diamonds. In the past I've been willing to do that to help the company but now they can go to hell.

I love all the hand wringing, pearl clutching, and hair on fire posts filled with empty threats. Reading them is almost as much fun as playing the mini game.

Fact: Only a small number of players are aware of and use the Beta spoilers from the 'wiki that shall not be named.'
Fact: Of those players aware of the spoilers, only a few were waiting for the CMS and the CMS only.
Fact: More consistent with the event, the Carousel ran twice, the Carousel introduced during last year's Archaeology event.
Fact: Any diamonds purchased can be use in other ways, or saved for future events.
Fact: Diamond purchasers who withhold future diamond purchases when desirable attack buildings are available, only hurt themselves. Which is why the diamond purchases will continue and why the threats are empty.
Fact: Inno knows these facts, and why they know this is a non-issue.

While these posts are entertaining to read, they're futile. No one got screwed, there was no bait and switch, and the vast majority of players have no idea this even happened. By the next event, all will be forgotten and forgiven. The diamonds will flow once again, so you can get all the brand new attack buildings from the Soccer Cup event.

So throw your fits, and cry it all out. I'll go make some popcorn and open a bottle of whine to fully enjoy the outrage. (Wine/Whine - see what I did there?)
