Happiness falls overnight

I can go to bed at night with 1000+ happiness and wake up to -2000+. This has happened on more than 1 occasion. Does anyone know why this would happen and how to prevent it?

Most likely, you had some Happiness Buildings polished before you went to sleep. Polishing increases the Happiness of a single Building by a multiplier of 2, and the effect lasts for 12 hours. What could have happened is that the effects wore off while you were asleep, resulting in a Happiness drop.

To fix this, build more Cultural Buildings, keep your roads updated, and keep a low population. If you have a lot of spare population, sell some regular Residential Buildings, keeping Event Buildings. Some Event Buildings from Events provide a huge lot of Happiness, so it's not a bad idea to get one or two. And even some Great Buildings, such as the Hagia Sophia, Frauenkirche of Dresden, and the Alcatraz will help with that as well.

When folk are getting home from work there is nothing good on TV.

The men are falling asleep before making sure their partners are also happy.

The night view from your Space Needle is lousy at this time of year.

The people in your city are sad because they don't have any other Guild cities with which to interact.

That last might be part of the problem combined with what Super Catanian said. A one person Guild cuts off a lot of potential Aids,. You might want to regularly review the activity of your Friends and update as needed.

That or add a bunch of levels on your Traz, Hagia SN, FoD, ND while not adding any more Pop Buildings or levels to your Inno and Hab.

When you do add more Pop, make sure to add levels to your five Happiness GBs to offset the increased demand for Happiness.

Good luck, let us know what happens.

All of the above and you might want to consider any Event buildings that also contain a population increase. Many players do not take this into consideration and watch their hard earned Happy Points plunder.
