how to and how does a 6h mass supply boost work. like does it work for 6h or do i have to do a production for 8h and it takes 6 off?

If you have an 8 hour production, it will take off 6., leaving you with 2 hours remaining on the production.

Precisely. Start the productions, then use the item.
This only works on Production Buildings, not on Goods Buildings. It will work on some special Production Buildings, such as the Confectionary. However, if the item produced isn't Supplies, they will be unaffected. For example, if you have a Mad Scientist's Lab on an 8 hour production, which is a Forge Point, it won't be affected by the item, because it's not Supplies.
