They bought the Time Machine Add-on for their Traz. It allows you to produce troops from the barracks that will be in your city a year from now.

They prolly got them from working way ahead of their Era on the Continent. Or are still playing in 2021.

The troops were gotten by advancing your neighbour's continent map and consequently story quests to an era higher than theirs. The story quests occasionally award troops of the era of the continent map area.
(Off topic) In 2021, FoE will have so many "Future" eras I can't count them on my fingers anymore
