Using self-motivation

If you haven’t already, use the highest happiness producing roads for your age (that cost coins + supplies) for your streets

What should I self-motivate to max happiness and increase enthusiasm?
The real issue here is that you're looking for a short-term solution to a long-term problem. You need to adjust your city so that you don't have to depend on motivation/polishing in order to stay at Enthusiastic. Whether this is upgrading to highest Happiness-producing roads, as @Emberguard suggests, or having more buildings that produce Happiness (but not decorations unless they provide something else useful), or reducing unnecessary population-providing buildings.

Just in case the Op wasn't aware . the self aids like all motivation and polish from others all last less or equal to 24 hours then need another You need to rely on buildings and roads that give happiness to keep you above the happiness threshold not self aids

And just to further clarify, polish of cultural buildings/decorations only lasts 12 hours. Motivation lasts until the building is collected.

Both of our points are irrelevant to the orginal question. Motivation and Polish doesn't give happiness anyway lol :)
Actually, polish does. Motivation doubles base production of coins/supplies and triggers many rewards from event buildings, and polish doubles Happiness from the building polished for 12 hours.

Easy one, since I'm always starting new cities. 20 seconds. (Maybe 10 seconds initially, with the new fast start changes.)
I remember timing the first 5-minute production in the tutorial, and it only took about 1 minute and 43 seconds.

But now isn't is just 30 seconds?

attack, plunder and snipe all your neighbors on daily basis, and demand them to aid you in order for attacks to stop.
then you won't need to use any self-aids but rather sell them to AD and you kill 2 flees with one shot.

Any player that worries about being plundered will simply collect on time and ignore you. Any player that uses 1.9s should know how to prevent sniping. Players that use swaps will welcome your snipes. Your threat is a paper tiger and a jerk thing to do.

That plan became obsolete years ago. Only a very inexperienced player would give in to that. Most will either laugh you off or decide to teach you a lesson, as @Sharmon the Impaler said.

Once you unlock all expansions there’s room for 3.7k 1x1 buildings… you will never have 3.7k people available to Aid you. Mass Self Aid kits really is the way to go if you want to maximize your city output

If you’re relying on others to do the Aiding you’re probably using things like Chain Links that only need 1 Aid to be protected and don’t need Aid at all to produce

This might be true in later ages with experienced players, but my strategy works just fine in HMA.

You will also probably end up on a few retirees attack on sight lists that put you on ignore because they have lots of free time to focus on you and dont care if you want a truce now lol
This game really lacks more PvP hostilities, everybody is so passive and "economy style" player in hood that it's not fun at all.

True, but who is going to plant 3.7K 1x1 buildings? I'm not sure if all those 1x1 buildigns are motivable, there are some which aren't.
