Today several times the computer ignored my rogues and ran past them to attack other armies.
Where were you fighting? There are two AIs. One for Continent fighting that targets Rogues last, the other AI for PvP. GE. and GvG targets Rpgues first.
I just ran through some continent map fights with various troops including a rogue, all troops undamaged. I kept all troops to the back and advanced the rogue. Every time my rogue was attacked and mostly every time it was attacked first.
Just ran a quick continent map one with 4 rogues, 4 ballistas. I skipped my first few turns and let the enemy move first. The very first thing the enemy catapult did was target the rogue. Then they killed that rogue and went after another. The enemy had choices and chose rouges.Try your experiment again this time with a Rogue and a non-Rogue side by side such that the AI can make a choice.
Np, at least in this small sample it seems they go after the trooper in front as you can see in the second example they did leave the rogues alone but when I left them pretty much in the original positions or advanced the rogues they did indeed target them first. Not doubting there are times that if you advance rogues ahead of the regular troops they won't sometimes get ignored but it's not always the case so not sure what exactly is going on.Proof indeed, sloppyjoeslayer! Good stuff thanks for the testing.
The Neighborhood AI prioritizes Rogues lowest. If it has a choice it will attack non-Rogue units first. The other AI is vice versa and if it has the choice will attack the Rogues first.
IME this is not how it works. An AI unit will run right next to one of my real units (or previously transformed rogues) to strike at a rogue if the rogue is in range. I can't be sure if this is the case for GVG but I doubt there are 3 different versions of the AI.I'm afraid you've got this backwards. Neighborhood and Expedition AI targets whatever is closest, showing a preference for attacking rogues if all ranges are equal.
Honestly I don't think anybody really knows what the AI prioritizes what, when, where, in what age etc. We're all just going off limited experience
I doubt there are 3 different versions of the AI.
