hmm a player that works for inno saying how good it is, that's not suspect at all lol, this event is garbage and its designed to frustrate and make ppl break out the credit cards, lets just be real.
Just giving my opinion. Maybe this format is more frustrating, would you say you liked the old Valentine's contest better?hmm a player that works for inno saying how good it is, that's not suspect at all lol, this event is garbage and its designed to frustrate and make ppl break out the credit cards, lets just be real.
I understand the point of they have made it bigger and added more to win then a tree of love, and i have no problem nor am i naive enough to realize the game is about making money, I just think it should be a little more fair, a 20% chance to win 7 roses when spending 600 and higher in hearts and flooding them with the happiness buildings with the highest % to win, its just crap to me and poor game management as far as giving ppl a fair shake at winning somethingJust giving my opinion. I never said the prizes aren't good as a whole, just the ones with the highest percentage to win are crap, why does there have to even be a percentage, make them all the same and random chance, that i could live with and feel better about spending money on it, i know there are ppl that will spend on this event and i'm sure there are others like me that won't, so the game could get the money from the ones that really have no sense as usual plus they could get the ones like myself who would like to see a better chance at a return. My point is that everyone has a very fair shake at winning something better than a tree of love. Probably no one is going to win as much as they get at, say, the winter event. So when you say the prizes aren't good, what are you comparing them to?
no real way to win unless you pull out that credit card
Without diamond players, there would be no game for the free players to enjoy.
this event is terrible. no real way to win unless you pull out that credit card. im also not impressed with the prizes.
Of course Inno is trying to get you to pull out the credit card. It's called turning a profit. If you're playing for free, you're actually costing them money. They have to make a living too.
As I noted previously though, their marketing strategy is pretty bad so far for this event with the 6 hour deal. I think it was a night ago or so they had a coin package as the standalone prize. That's like putting a Ford Escort with 200,000 miles out front of a dealership and keeping the brand-new Mustangs in the shed gathering dust. I have a couple friends who are in the same boat: they very much want to spend money on diamonds for "hot" items like SoK, HoF, RH, etc. RH is up right now so maybe Inno is going to do a run of good options to the finish.

Not exactly true. The game's model is free to play with benefits from paying. Just players (whether paying or not) need to remember that all of the events like this are geared towards making money for the company while still giving some free stuff to players that don't pay. Key part of that is 'some free stuff' not everything you can get if you are willing to pay money for items. Even that they keep the direct price of items fairly high to limit the number of items that are purchased directly.
It's free for you. My statement was "if you're playing for free, you're actually costing them money" which is 100% true. The company has to infrastructure/operating costs, not mention paying the staff. That costs money. If you're playing for free, you're using their product and they're not benefiting in any way from it; i.e. you're costing them money. It's no different than the free samples you get in a grocery store. The company that produces the food sample makes no money from you trying it; in fact they incur a loss by giving the samples away. They're hoping you'll like it enough to buy it, at which point they make a profit to offset the loss.
The actual model; i.e. real-life application from a business standpoint, is Inno tolerates the "free" players in order to keep the "paying" ones around. If they made it so you had to pay to play, they would lose a lot of "free" players and likely a lot of "paying" players would leave as well due to the lower number of players in the game. If they made it so everyone was a "free" player there would be no profit and the company would fold.

And there I disagree. Part of the offering they are using to entice people to spend diamonds is the advantage they get over nonpaying players and the larger player base that having part of the player base who don't spend money. No doubt they believe that their format promotes many players to pay small amounts but free players don't actually cost the game anything as there base costs are pretty much the same.
Everything in FOE is designed to get players to buy stuff. It wouldn't exist if it were not making money, I know that. But to be honest I would prefer a subscription membership with a set number of diamonds per month say, which would leave a level playing field. You could sail through this game if you were prepared to spend a great deal of money. You are also forced into corners - for example - I need one more sector of a province to get an expansion. The defending army of this sector is really to strong to beat unless I have bought army packs - and I would incur damage and loss of unattached units. More diamonds needed. Or I could negotiate - I need 20 bricks. I don't have clay to justify building a brickworks and if I did build one without the clay it would take days to produce 20 bricks and, surprise, surprise there seems to be no bricks whatsoever available on the market in my world. I could buy in for 100 diamonds....hmm a player that works for inno saying how good it is, that's not suspect at all lol, this event is garbage and its designed to frustrate and make ppl break out the credit cards, lets just be real.

Are you a moderator? Inno employee? Apologist? Every time I post something that points out the difficulty/cost of the game - I get a similar response from somewhere. After my initial enthusiasm - I am getting bored with this game. I have spent money on it, but it is too expensive and I dislike the way it is set up to encourage the buying of diamonds. Yes, I could be patient and wait, but meanwhile I am getting bored - The guild thing isn't very active and quite complicated. The promotions like this Venice carniva and the Tour de Francel are pretty stupid. The great buildings is ill conceived and out of place...I will vote with my feet-There is no unit in the Army Pack that you can't get in-game for no diamonds (albeit with some GE luck required for the Champions.)
-Be patient and keep an eye on the market. The good will eventually surface. Or post in global chat requesting a 20 brick trade; someone may see it and you may even get a new friend out of it. Or go through your guildmates and find someone with a brickworks and ask them for help.
My point is that diamonds enhance gameplay, but they're not mandatory. Everything can eventually be done without them; it just takes longer and is more difficult.
