Spring Event - The Cherry Blossom Festival Feedback

Last piece of the set.
Along with the 2 Shrines of Knowledge I also earned.

All on the same timer.
I'm happy with one set, and it's beautiful.

When using the 120 lantern box in my 5 worlds I have noticed that the percentages shown in them are not true at all. Obviously there is a chance to win other items also, but if today's Emperor Entrance has a chance of 25%, that means that ~1/4 should be it. False! I've tried that 120 lantern box about 19 times even spending 3500 diamonds only to get 2x emperor entrance. That is 2/19 so, ~ 1/10%. What bothers me is that I've gotten lower % items more often, meaning I got more 8% fp packages or medals (4x each, so 16%) or the 10% one up item (4x aswell so a 20%). I've gotten every single item more often than the one that had supposedly the highest chance of being won!
Had I only tried a couple of times I would have to admit that I just wasn't lucky. But after trying 21 times (19 x big box and 2 times the smaller ones) I just wonder why you lie to us in such an obvious manner and sell us fake percentages that are just not true. I feel so tricked that I am losing all the interest in continuing this game after almost two years of playing.

First, you're not supposed to post support messages on the forum. (I learned the hard way).

Second, you obviously don't understand probabilities and statistics. Having a 25% chance doesn't guarantee you to get it in 4 tries (or even 100 for that matter). It just means that for each chest you open, you have a 25% chance to get it. Previous chests have no impact on the next chest you open. Its not like the computer goes "Oh, 25% chance, they opened 3, so now the 4th one is a guarantee." Nope not how it works. Thats like saying everytime you flip a coin its going to alternate between heads and tails because you have a 50% chance to get heads. Just because you flipped tails the first time doesn't mean you'll flip heads the second time. Why? Because the previous flip has no influence on the outcome of the next flip. Just like the outcome of a chest doesn't influence the outcome of the next chest.

Third, and continuing on with the math. No, 2/19 is not 25%. But its also a small sample. Back to the coin analogy, if you flip a coin 10 times, you're not always going to get 5 heads and 5 tails each time. You might get 7 heads and 3 tails. Does that mean that the coin has a 70% chance of landing heads? No. It just means that of the 10 times you flipped it, it landed on heads 70% of the time. However, if you increase the sample size, to lets say 10,000 for example, then you will be more likely to have a number closer to representing the true value of the probability percentages.

I couldn't bring myself to do it. I had a tech back in LMA or something that had a 23 FP tech and I still refused. WFortunately I already got me one set befor it came to that. The Breech Loader is a rough tech also right? I think sixty something FP for a tech you'll never ever use. I like an earlier post I read where the guy is leaving an expansion tech. At least he will use it later.

I feel your pain and it took me FOREVER to understand odds. I just couldn't get it through my head that each roll is completely independent of the previous roll. You have a 25% chance EVERY time you click that button BUT if odds were that easy, Vegas would go broke. You could simply double your bet every hand until you win. Some games in Vegas are very close to a 50/50 chance. Take roulette for example. With the exception of the dreaded 0 and 00, there are just as many black slots as there are red slots. Even with a 47.4% chance of landing on red or black, it is not uncommon for the same color to come up 8 and even 10 times in a row! And that's with near 50% odds! Bring it down to 25% and you can see how easy it could go 20 or 30 times. In a way, uncommon is actually common.

Since beginning this game, I had the same complaint for the longest time. I've spent hundreds (probably well over a thousand) on the game and felt a sense of entitlement. I was pissed off when I seemed to be having horrible luck. In fact, I'm sure I have some posts to that affect. The thing is, over the past few events, I've been winning what feels very easily. For whatever reason, what was a 25% chance I suddenly started getting on the first chest. Conspiracy? Very doubtful but there are these runs of what we call good or bad luck. In reality it is nothing more than probability.

Complete failure to understand probability. Google "The Law of Large Numbers". 21 is not a large number.

I've been playing for about a year and this is by far the best event I've seen. It's almost on the cusp of too good to be true (building nerf worries) or this must be an apology for how greedy and bad the Carnival was.

I was shocked when I saw the SoK come up as the second grand prize. They have become so stingy with them and really anything people actually like but to see they are actually giving you one... no random chance, no maybe, you win that AND other prizes? And the carnival... 7 roses in the chests was crazy, it wasn't a prize. Here should you get the lanterns you're getting more lanterns than it cost to open the chest, it's a real prize!

The buildings are beautiful and of course anything of size is difficult but these together are better than most (if not all if I think about it) GBs of the same size. I still haven't been able to get the pond, I really hope it comes up again but that's just my own luck.

The only thing I didn't like and don't really get are the boost packs. I think it was overkill with all these other new things. I agree and echo everyone saying stop with tech research, it didn't affect me this time because I advanced for Einstein but having to advance for an event just seems like a punishment. If people are actively playing the game how they want to it shouldn't make a difference to inno what era they chose to play in so long as they're playing.

Overall, this is a fantastic event. I was really shaking my head after doing the math on that stingy money grubbing carnival event and I am very happily surprised by their complete turn around with this one.

QUICK QUESTION. The next to last quest asks us to give our friend's tavern a boost by visiting their tavern shop. How do you access their
shop? I see the link in my own shop when I click on my tavern, but don't see anything but the table in my friends' tavern. Why can't I see the same links to their shop when I open their tavern?

The boost are in your Tavern,click on your shop and start one.

So my thought on this event is it's okay, I finished the main quest line in like 3 days and got 3 of the buildings. Now with the rest of the quest I noticed that there will not be enough to obtain to try for the other 2. So is it even worth it trying to complete the rest of the tasking.

I've been programming for over 50 years and still enjoy it. And companies don't have too few programming resources "by choice"; that's a silly outlook. Anyway, you're evading the point. You said "Let's have a festival where all of the bugs, proposals, etc... are completed to customer (last time I checked...US) satisfaction" -- but this "us" apparently doesn't include you. You want someone else to do a bunch of work from which you benefit.

It's weird that people go out of their way to stick an apostrophe into the quest description that isn't there, just so they can misunderstand it. It's your Friends Tavern (no apostrophe), the one with a Tavern Shop where you can buy boosts, which is what the quest requires. It's called the Friends Tavern because a Tavern, without "Friends" in front of it, is just an ordinary Bronze Age cultural building.
