Simply said, Inno has found a way to get you to spend more time for less rewards. I am seriously considering leaving the 3 worlds I play in. Best effort yet to suck the fun out of this game.

Where's the poll choice for 'no'? I never really cared about diamonds from GE, because if I wanted to use diamonds for something and I didn't have enough I'd just buy more rather than wait for free ones. Are free diamonds nice? Sure. Is this a nerf? Yes. But is it really going to affect me? No, it's not, so I don't really care too much. This is a biased poll.

I kept data on each hit of diamonds I've received going back 3 years on my weekly play in GE in five worlds, completing play through level 4 in every city without fail.

MooingCat on his video showed in graphics that Inno claims 50% of diamond rewards have been "nerfed" by Inno from level 4.

What he's really saying is you've been robbed of at least 50% of the diamonds provided in your tacit agreement with inno to give them your time and trouble to make their inert creation active. It's a give and take proposition, always.

However, like most establishment organizations, this 50% loss claim is inauthentic.

I averaged 750 diamonds a week over five cities, with the low at around 400 a week and the high at 1100 in a week.

This week I took in 180 diamonds TOTAL from SIX cities played to the end of level 4.

To put it another way;
Every week for years I never had a city that didn't win at least some GE diamonds in GE each week - this week I had 4 that won ZERO diamonds after completion of level 4.

Major disincentive to play GE anymore as I'm not interested in level 5.

Way to go Inno. You've invented even newer ways to suck the sparkle and the fun out of this game.

All work and no rewards is a game that makes its players losers.

I rushed through GE level 5 on Tuesday morning. Spent more than 60,000,000 medals, and tons of goods, building the boost buildings and negotiating the last 5 or so encounters, conservatively speaking. I won a total of 90 Diamonds. I did win a few more FPs than normal, but the lack of Diamonds was not worth the effort and cost.
I do like the fact that it is harder, but it's almost like INNO is punishing us rather than rewarding us for building our cities in an effort to be successful. I only rushed it for the novelty of level 5, so I won't be doing that again anytime soon, due to the expense.

Please get your facts straight. Before the introduction of L5 there were 18 chests (not 16) containing an opportunity to earn diamonds. For L1-L3 these chests were every fourth, but not on L4 where 6 chests were diamond opportunities. With the introduction of L5, there are now 3 opportunities to win diamonds (not 2). In this case, the 18 chances were better than three. Not because 18 is greater than 3 but because the average number of diamonds earned from the 18 opportunities (162) is greater than the average number of diamonds won from the 3 opportunities (81). Nerfing the acquisition of free diamonds is a very smart business move. I agree with @UBERhelp1, free game currency is unusual. To the extent that INNO has made it possible is absurd. The long term viabiity of the business depends on revenue and INNO created too many freeloaders. Myself included.

LOL. Okay, I erred on the exact numbers. It's not like I could go back and verify my memory about before the nerf. And if the 3rd opportunity for Diamonds is on level 5, I will never see it, so...
Also, the 18 is greater than 3 because you got them on every level, including level 1, not because the alleged average is what you claim. I say "alleged" and "claimed" because you state it as if it's from actual gameplay data, but it's just figured from probabilities, so not really valid. Like a team that's good on paper but sucks in real competition.
Lastly, free game currency is the norm in games I play. Probably because if you can't earn it "for free" then I don't stay with the game long. There's always an advantage to be gained with game currency (even if it's just time), and to be unable to earn it without spending is a dealbreaker. Not to say that is has to be plentiful, but it should be available to the average player.

And just a side note on the availability of Diamonds for "free". If they want to cut down on free Diamonds, GBG is the place to start, not GE. If my kitchen faucet had a slow drip, but water was gushing out of a pipe elsewhere in the house, I would fix the pipe first.

This doesn't really have much do to with the conversation (it is rather devolving) but to everyone that I see saying they feel like boycotting GE entirely - you're now nerfing your GE diamonds to 0, instead of 4200.

Per the odds to win diamonds: 3 chances at 90 diamonds, 30% chance each = 3 * 0.3 * 90 = 81 diamonds on average per week. Previously ~162 on average per week. Diamonds are also now in only level 4.

And just a side note on the availability of Diamonds for "free". If they want to cut down on free Diamonds, GBG is the place to start, not GE. If my kitchen faucet had a slow drip, but water was gushing out of a pipe elsewhere in the house, I would fix the pipe first.

Per GBG diamonds, it's still about what I'd consider in the same range as GE64. If you have higher boosts, yeah, you'll get more, but especially with the siege camp nerf incoming, it's likely that GBG diamonds will be getting a nerf from that, simply from the fact that it'll be harder to fight more battles. To that point though, here's a chart with a breakdown of the needed fights/day to get amounts of diamonds. Note that it takes about 67 fights/day to reach the same amount of diamonds as the current GE balancing.

Fighting to 67 fights per day in my mind is about the same difficulty as GE 64, maybe easier depending on the aid of siege camps. But once that goes away, to some extent? I'd consider that on par with GE 64.

Really disappointed by the changes. I do like making obsolete stats relevant again and I could get used to frags but diamonds are FREEDOM in foe. They give each player the ability to tweak the experience to fit their own play style. Without a decent diamond drop rate I will probably only play in 2 cities instead of five, I won't play as much GBG because they are essential when fighting less so in farming but that's a whole other issue. GE is also not something we can get behind as a guild, I can't recommend it to mid/high level players and low level players get way more from our for profit gb leveling threads and unfair trades. Bottom line we now require ZERO GE participation.
So what we are left with is getting to play GBG every other season and gvg that not everyone can play (desktop v mobile a whole other debate)
We are going to put more time into trying to make the social side more fun with clever word games, joke threads and text based rpg campaigns. All of which we could easily do in discord. Thing is we all love this game so we are sticking with it for now, everyone has their limit it will be interesting to see at what point the social ties aren't worth it anymore.

PS if you read this inno look up my lifetime spend on 2.5 years in this game, I've paid my real $ dues many times over (please don't tell my wife). I'm also more than happy to keep spending on a great experience.

So what we are left with is getting to play GBG every other season and gvg that not everyone can play (desktop v mobile a whole other debate)
We are going to put more time into trying to make the social side more fun with clever word games, joke threads and text based rpg campaigns. All of which we could easily do in discord. Thing is we all love this game so we are sticking with it for now, everyone has their limit it will be interesting to see at what point the social ties aren't worth it anymore.

PS if you read this inno look up my lifetime spend on 2.5 years in this game, I've paid my real $ dues many times over (please don't tell my wife). I'm also more than happy to keep spending on a great experience.

Level 5 is a joke, Inno needs to take a good look at the people responsible for making the decisions of what goes into the game. Recently it has all been heading straight downhill. I've been playing for almost 8 years now, and Checkers is looking better and better lately.

What you say, and I agree, makes me wonder if Inno wasn't actually sold to another interest, or someone took over the Board if they have one - some kind of major change in ownership which creates a total change in culture, attitude and direction of a company. That's what it feels like.

Where's the poll choice for 'no'? I never really cared about diamonds from GE, because if I wanted to use diamonds for something and I didn't have enough I'd just buy more rather than wait for free ones. Are free diamonds nice? Sure. Is this a nerf? Yes. But is it really going to affect me? No, it's not, so I don't really care too much. This is a biased poll.

The fact is that I am a freeloader. I haven't bought diamonds for over 2 years and have stockpiled over 45K of them. All the while I facepalm myself wondering why INNO enables my behavior.

I have wondered the same thing myself, as it seems that there is a pattern where a large number of new players will spend $$$ for diamonds early on, then reduce or end their spending once they have their cities build and have figured out diamond production. That's a death spiral for Inno, as they have to collect revenue to run the game somehow.

I think that the trouble here is that Inno created this problem for themselves, and now the only way for them to try to fix it is by making it harder to farm diamonds, hoping that players will keep buying longer before they are self-sufficient. Of course this will make long-term players angry, but realistically what other option do they have?

I notice that the events are now set up to make it just barely possible to win the main building, perhaps with some time to collect the final upgrade after the event ends....or you can buy it during the event. To me, this seems like a really good balance between FTP and paying players; give some time value for the dollars spent while allowing the FTP people to get there eventually with some effort. I agree it's a downgrade for many of us, but its not completely destroying the game.

Being ticked off is understandable, but I think that this day was coming one way or another.

My point in posting wasn't so much about the decision of the developers, for me it is the duplicity to put out the idea that "Level 4 was nerfed by 50%" (and the other levels had so few diamonds its not even worth addressing - also wrong), rather than the whoppingly larger percentage that it actually was. Surely they have data at least as good as I do, so they know what they put out isn't true. I don't like being nerfed AND propagandized, and neither does anyone else except perhaps a couple of forum brown-nosers. It's a bad play by Inno, disrespectful, and people know when they are being fed "feel good" bs by a business they are choosing to spend their entertainment time with, and their mad money on.

Don't prevaricate Inno, just tell us you are gutting the diamonds by 95% because your developers made some big mistakes designing the game, and didn't count on the ingenuity of their players, whom, apparently, they mostly condescend to and despise.

However, so far, you only have 6 data points (one GE season, 6 cities) to compare with your tabulated data. INNO never said that they nerfed the diamonds by 50%, players said that. The players based the statement on two facts. First, the average number of diamonds collected during a GE season was 162 (you can confirm the veracity of this by analyzing your own data set). Second, each diamond-bearing chest in L4 states that players have a 30% chance of winning 90 diamonds (which makes the average expected collection 81 diamonds per season. So, 162 before, 81 after. A reduction of exactly 50%. Now, you can argue that INNO can be lying about the 30% chance but, they didn't lie about the chances to earn GE diamonds before. You can insult players that disagree with you (calling them "brown nosers") but the fact remains that you are wrong. Diamonds were nerfed for sure, by 50%, and your venting won't change that fact. If you think otherwise, share some analysis that supports your conclusions - not just data.

I never saw anything showing a 50% reduction over INNO's signature. Please share a link.

The real bottom line - statistics. Prior to the introduction of L5, the 4 GE levels contained 18 chests that contained an opportunity to win diamonds. The chance to win ranged from 5% to 50%). Taken together, there was a 99.5% chance of winning some number of diamonds. Taken together, the average number of diamonds won, per season, was 162. With the introduction of L5, only GE L4 has chests containing an opportunity to win diamonds (3 30% chances). The odds to win some diamonds is now 90% (with an average payout, over time, of 81 diamonds). You have three years of data, are comparing it with a single data point, and drawing a conclusion that the data does not support now (and probably will never support). Currently, during any given GE season, there is a 10% chance of winning no diamonds. Several of your cities got no diamonds this time which is not inconsistent with the probability. Feel free to challenge my logic but, if you choose to, please provide some analysis and not just supposition.
