Antiques Dealer feedback

They don't need to "go back to the way it was" because nothing has changed. It's called "Random". It's a simple matter of probability. There are about 40 items available. It would not be unusual for certain items to not appear for a few days when you only see 10 items a day.

Do you record which items come up in the auction? I do. The last 30 items I've seen (over two worlds) are:
100 Forge Points (1)
100 Goods (1)
Aviary (1)
Black Tower (1)
Botanical Rotunda (1)
Checkmate Square (1)
Cider Mill Selection Kit (2)
Cider Mill Upgrade (1)
Classical Garden Selection Kit (2)
Grand Bridge - Lv. 1 (2)
Grand Bridge Selection Kit (1)
Grand Bridge Upgrade (1)
Indian Fountain Selection Kit (1)
Indian Palace Selection Kit (1)
Magnum Opus (1)
Menagerie (1)
Mill of Fall - Lv. 1 (1)
Mill of Fall Upgrade Kit (1)
Obelisk Garden (1)
Pavilion (2)
Pillar of Heroes Selection Kit (1)
Pillar of Heroes Upgrade (1)
Rosarium (1)
Royal Garden Selection Kit (1)
The Lord's Manor (1)
The Ship Upgrade Kit (1)

@freshmeboy It just doesn't really make sense to me, is what I'm saying. Coins/gemstones don't have any value until you spend them, so I'll ask directly: What are you looking to buy, exactly? Following that, why not just buy it whenever it turns up? Any time you don't is a missed opportunity, and even if you don't have enough coins when it shows up again because you've been buying it every time it appears, at least you've already got it from before and are able to get use out of it. Again, there isn't really a point to having a ton of coins if you aren't using them, unless you just want to say you have a ton of coins...is that your goal here?

So I have a good amount of Trade Coins/Gemstones at this point. I have only seen one item that I wanted to buy-now, and two items that I bid on (one of which I won). While the Trade Coins are not doing anything for my city just sitting in inventory, neither would it be helpful to buy items that I don't need or that are selling for exorbitant prices. I am willing to be patient and get the items I want at the prices I want.

Qaccy, you seem to think the auction will always operate under the present conditions...That players will pay exorbiant amounts for whatever pieces they want..I have watched this game evolve for years and one thing is certain, playing style and effort and attention to certain mechanics change over time. It happens in every game. That's why developers add new content. The AD is no different It's a new mecahnic and many players are over zealous. For new players who have little inventory collected and see the huge prices ensconced players are playing with years of collecting junk (to them) the mechanic seems worthless and unfair...
I hope my words of encouragement help them. That some day soon they too will have a chance at value for their junk. I know that I too will gather value at the auction...I've been attending the damn things in real life for decades and that's the reason you enter them..value for your dollar....

I think it's just as much about obtaining something you want, sometimes regardless of price. Art auctions are a pretty good example of this, especially when it comes to historical pieces. You think people paying thousands or even millions of dollars for a one-of-a-kind item are looking for a bargain?

Anyway, there seems to be this assumption that the collective playerbase is at some point going to run out of coins and that there's going to be a 'golden age' of cheap auctions that follows. That's not really going to happen. From now until such time that the feature is removed (which is probably never), there are going to be items people want and they are going to bid however much it takes for them to win the items. In the presence of these players, the ones who want to keep squirreling away their coins waiting for a 'good deal' are probably not going to obtain very much, while the ones who are spending will be reaping the benefits of their purchases every day afterward.

I know that you're not talking about me, but I'm not squirreling away my coins waiting for a good deal. There is literally nothing I care to bid on. At first, I bought a few set pieces that I lacked and some upgrades, but I don't need any more upgrades and I don't have room for more sets. It's not coins that will run out, but space. Nothing they're offering is as good as the main event buildings or GBs, so why would I buy it when it's hard enough finding space for the good stuff? It doesn't seem unreasonable to me that more and more people, especially those who have been playing for a long time, have more stuff to sell and therefore more coins, will stop bidding entirely because they don't want the offered items, not because they cost too much. It just stands to reason that less demand will lower prices, at least on buildings. Possibly goods and fp packages will go for more because there's nothing else worth bidding on.

This 100%. Heck, I have 3 slots open to bid, barely working on the 4th because there is no hurry. The only thing I've bought and will buy are sunken treasures but I've only seen one of them. I think 'end game' they will because my blacksmiths for event quests that require specific age building.

I have 10 each of Sunken Treasure and Sleighbuilders in both my cities and this is how I use them. They're great. When you don't need them for an event or DC, you can set them to make Fps and goods. They can be plundered, which is a bummer with the Sleighbuilders, but an advantage Treasures have over Terrace Farms is that you can produce the same amount of fps in the same space but a plunderer can only take one of them.

No doubt, that's one sort of auction. Another sort of auction, the kind I attend in real life, is an opportunity to win items that simply aren't attainable elsewhere, not at any price. "Value" has very little to do with it.

There are very few FoE items I need at this point, so I'm treating the AD as the second sort of auction. When something I want does come up (so far that's been a couple Grand Bridge upgrades and nothing else) I'll bid lavishly to win it. Why not, since my supply of coins continues to go up not down despite my "overbidding" in your view?

@Agent327 It's technically not true, since 5 STs can't occupy the same footprint as a TF and a few extra roads will likely be used as well, but I see where they're coming from. That being said, I'd rather use both STs and SBs for producing goods, which they're much more efficient at, than FPs...but only as a player who can do something with those goods, which usually requires more effort.

ive never been to an auction where they get not only the highest bidders coins but they keep all the bidders coins

DeletedUser37581

Seems people are spending a lot of talking time on a concept that is not a true auction, offers the lowest of items for bid and for sale and worst of all is controlled by INNO who sets prices. In a free market the bidders and consumers establish market prices but then what would Socialists like INNO know about free markets. Just another money raising venture for INNO
You have obviously never used the services of a junk dealer or pawn shop.

I am sure it has been mentioned but there are quite a few of us discussing how it would be great if Great Building blueprints were added as an item that could be sold and bought. There are GBs we will never build. There are GBs we will only level so far even though we could level to infinity and beyond =)
And newer players are always trying to get that last blueprint spot that never seems to get filled. Anyways it's been nice to dump items out of inventory that I will never use. It would be even better getting rid of the blueprints too.

I hadn't seen those yet but I'm more in the market of selling my items for trade coins. If they could just add bps to the list of items we have in our inventories to put up for trade coins it would be one of the features Inno has put out that I would give 2 thumbs up for. Right now it's one thumbs up and that's pretty good coming from me. I haven't loved a lot the new features in the last couple of years.
